Virginie Gilardin's practice aims to be both personal and political. Ensuing a cathartic process, she responds to the challenging time of her daily life such as motherhood, education. She is using her life experiences and environment to make comments, to reveal thoughts.

Her work operates as form of interventions using photographs. She has staged herself in the photographs to provoke feelings, thoughts and questions. They are telling a story, a narrative. The artist is also using photography as a medium to change their meaning as she is transforming them into other forms and structures.

Virginie Gilardin studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College, University of the Arts London.
